Band of Horses - “Is There A Ghost”

Walls of strumming guitar noise saturate this wonderful song. The line “if I could sleep” keeps repeating every verse.

The rest of the lyrics consist mainly of “When I lived alone, is there a ghost in my house?”

Beyond that it’s just a nice tight wash of rock over an impulsive beat.

It’s from their album Cease to Begin and is worth a download.

Here’s the video:

Holy crap the ghost is an Asian girl and she’s stealing pillows!

This amazing song is off the amazing album The Proximity Effect. Even though this song is more ‘rock’ than most of their stuff, it’s still such a standout cut that you need to hear it.

The song is based around a strumming guitar riff that turns to distortion on the choruses. The lyrics are somewhat abstract, but center around relationships.

Here’s the song to a static screen:

Here’s the song live. It’s a bad recording is cut short, but you get the idea.

This is a pretty cool song. It’s mellow rock at it’s best. Definitely a perfect tune for chilling out.

It’s from the album The Shepherd’s Dog and you can check it out to hear some clips of songs.

Here’s a search on YouTube for the song. There’s no official video for the song and the fan videos pretty much suck, so do as you please.

What a cool song. Sometimes you need a nice lilting song like this to listen to during the day to help keep the doldrums away. Especially on a soul-crushing, month-end report writing Monday.

It’s from the album: Terror Twilight
